Local attractionsMorvern Cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Craobh Haven by the Marina. Close to Oban on the West coast of Scotland. If you like the outdoor life, this is the place for you.
For the sailor, the west coast of Scotland needs no introduction. The islands of the Inner Hebrides are all within easy reach. If you would rather be a passenger, then Mull, Iona, Jura, Islay, Tiree, Coll, Colonsay and Barra, as well as some of the smaller inhabited islands, can be easily accessed by ferry from nearby Oban.
In the immediate area, there are plenty of trails for the walker to enjoy. Pay a visit to the splendid Arduaine Gardens. Further afield, there are beautiful glens and lochs to explore. Spend a day in breathtaking Glencoe or investigate the mysterious prehistoric sites that abound in this part of the world. Visit Dunadd, capital of Dalriada, the historic kingdom of the ancient Scots, which is just down the road. This part of Scotland has plenty of castles to visit, ruined as well as lived-in.
There is
good fishing available in nearby lochs and rivers. Or take a trip out
to sea and see what you can catch - but watch out for the
Corrievreckan,
the largest whirlpool in Europe, which is only a short distance outside
the harbour of Craobh Haven.
Take a
pair of binoculars with you when you go out as you never know what you
will see. The area is world famous for its wildlife. Seals laze on the
small islands all round or you may be lucky and glimpse some of the
otters that live here. Up on the hills, you may see red deer. If very
lucky, you may spot a golden eagle or an osprey in the sky. On the
islands, birdwatchers will see corncrakes and other birds now rare on
the mainland.
For something more energetic, water sports, horse riding,
mountain bike trails and golf courses are all at hand. Touring Morvern Cottage is well situated for visiting many places of interest. The village of Kilmartin will fire the imagination of any budding historian and archaeologist. Drive to Inverary ancient seat of the Campbells where you can visit the stunning Inverary Castle or visit the famous Inverary Jail. To the north lie the mountains of Glencoe and Ben Nevis. Nearer to home, why not drive across the bridge over the Atlantic and see the slate islands of Easdale
When it rains, a visit to the nearby outstanding Kilmartin Museum, the Sea Life Centre, the Oban Rare Breeds Farm Park or the Highland Wildlife Park at Inverary may be in order. Or spend a day in bustling Oban with its busy ferry port, its good restaurants and pubs, cinema and theatre. While there, a tour of the famous Oban Distillery could also be put on the itinerary. If all you want to do is chill out, then Morvern Cottage will give you the chance to recharge your batteries. Relax while you enjoy the beauty and romance of the West Coast of Scotland from this cosy base.

So why not enjoy fresh langoustines, prawns, lobster, scallops and crab, all available in the nearby towns of Oban and Lochgilphead. There are a wide variety of shops and supermarkets to meet all your needs.
In Ardfern, just around the corner from Craobh Haven, in Summer there is a Sunday market where you can purchase locally reared meat, fresh salads and vegetables and you can also buy a goose for the table.
When you want to eat out, there is a wide range of choice all within easy distance. Whether it’s the award winning Ballachullish Hotel restaurant, the fine food at Crinan Hotel, seafood at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, or local bar food, there is a wide choice available to suit most pockets. And if you fancy a drink and a meal, the Lord of the Isles, the local pub, is just a short walk away.
