Arrochar And Tarbet's Got Talent - Saturday 24th July 2010

Why not pick up an entry form and join in!! It's cheaper to be an act than to watch! On Saturday 24th July the 'Arrochar & Tarbet's Got Talent' contest took place at the Village Hall.

The event was a huge success. Eileen Kay was the host for the evening and the competitors were: -

  Connection (Band)
Carol Murray (Singing to Amy Winehouse)
  Emily Huggans (Violin)
  Iain Butler (Guitar/Singer)
  Ellie Fletcher (Dancer)
  Davina (Singer)
  Handy Man (Comedy duo)
  Abbadabbadoo (Girl Band)
  Alister Campbell - Sheagan (Accordian)
  Calum Lamond (Comedian)
  KJ Mills (Guitar and Singer)
  Ruaridh Sutcliffe (Pipes)
Amy Jackson (Singing her own composition)
  David Sparks (Comedy Dancer)

All the acts did tremendously well and each one was met with rapturous applause from the packed hall where it was standing room only. But it was David Sparks who stole the show with an extremely funny comedy dance routine which involved taking the micky out of several local personalities by dancing with a various face masks to his own, specially selected music clips complete with props.

The Winners were as follows:-

Connection won the junior prize and David Sparks won the senior prize. Ronnie MacDonald from the community Council awarded the prizes which were each £50. There was also a raffle whilst the votes were being counted.

Thanks to everyone 'The Arrochar and Tarbet Community Council', who organised the event, raised over £750 to go towards the refurbishment of the Play Areas. More events will be taking place over the coming months as we try to raise more money towards this very worthwhile cause. The Community Council is trying to raise around £10,000 before applying to other funders to raise somewhere in the region of £80,000 required to refurbish the play areas.

The next event will be an outdoor performance by local band 'The Menu' at the Village Inn with outdoor entertainment and BBQ for all the family! Details will be posted here as soon as the date is confirmed. It will most likely be around the end of August/September. Watch this space - posters will be put up advertising all the forthcoming events.

Here are some pictures of the event..... if you have any pictures please email them to howard@howardpage.co.uk and we'll add them to this page!
